This in-person laboratory course is the first half of the laboratory component generally required for a fundamental first-year anatomy and physiology course. This course provides an introduction to the structure and function of the human body. It begins with an orientation to the body and then covers the functions of a generalized cell – the atoms and molecules that make up organic molecules, tissues, organs, organ systems as well as the integumentary, skeletal, muscular and nervous systems. The focus is on the healthy functioning of the body and consideration of how each system contributes to overall health and the maintenance of homeostasis. This course covers the nervous system and the senses in addition to the endocrine, circulatory, respiratory, urinary, digestive and reproductive systems.
